When people find out I am a prepper they always ask me the same question. What are you prepping for? I tell them that "I am prepping for life without service. There are too many things that can go wrong for something to not go wrong. If the power goes out for the night, I am prepared. If I lose my job, we'll still have food. If all government services shut down, we'll be okay."
We focus on permaculture (mostly Back to Eden gardening), equipment reviews (flashlights, solar, security, cameras, and portable power), and we are beginning to build our home into a homestead (chickens, fruit trees, and gardens).
For those keeping score, L2Survive means "learn to survive" because that is what I am doing. Thatnub was one of my old gamer tags. NUB means Non Useful Body. If you have any ideas, comments or questions, let me know.

POWEROWL Rechargeable AA Batteries with Charger
The POWEROWL Rechargeable AA Batteries with Charger is a portable battery charging option. I carry a small electronics bag in my vehicle most of the time which includes battery banks and charging cables for most products on the market. It also includes a small charger for AA/AAA batteries that I use for some microphones, cameras, and lights. Instead of the four batteries that mine can hold, the Powerowl smart charger can charge eight and this package included eight AA batteries. They are high-capacity 2800mAh 1.2V Ni-MH rechargeable batteries. This smart charger comes with chip control, when the battery is fully charged, it will automatically stop charging. You can independently charge an...

I bought two USB-C to 5521 barrel adapter cables to power my Starlink Mini. Here is how that went. USB-C #1: amzn.to/3zFdqvY USB-C #2: amzn.to/4eY10iR I did contact Starlink support about the mention of a cable on one of the spec sheets. Here is basically how that went. In the comments section for my unboxing video of the Starlink Mini, there were some questions and requests for tests. In this video, we are comparing the Starlink Gen 1 dish with unlimited data to the Starlink Mini on the $30 add-on roaming plan. I used the WiFi on two cell phones and tested the Gen 1 to the Mini, Gen 1 on both phones at the same time, Mini on both phones, the Gen 1 and the Min...

STARLINK MINI Unboxing and First Use

We have the Starlink Mini. Three and a half years ago we got the "Better Than Nothing Beta" offer and it changed our lives because we lived out in the country and didn't have internet. Now we have fiber at the house so, I took our Starlink up to where we park our travel trailer. It is a pain to take with us when we go camping and changing the address is always scary because we might not get our...

JC LGL 100FT 130W Construction String Light
My mother always said watch the birds, squirrels and insects. She knew that my hubby and I were about to have severe plumbing problems before we knew by looking at a squirrel. She has passed on, I wish I had found out more!
Love this guy. Bless you Paul. I'm encouraging my people in Aotearoa aka New Zealand to watch and learn from you. Paul the Prophet
👍👍👍Great thanks.
Thank you for the very detailed video.😊 🙌When the red light of the charger is jumping and flashing, please take out the battery in time to check whether it is a rechargeable battery to avoid accidents.🙌
Thanks for starting the videos with how it performs at night. I get tired of watching flashlight reviews and having to scroll to the end of the video to see them.
Thank you. Lion Energy's website does not indicate that the Trek can itself be charged while it is powering or charging another device. You answer that question.
Glad I could help.
When was the last time you visited Paul?
A little over a year ago. We usually go to the Olympic mountains for Father's day week and we will stop by and see him then. This year we went to a very dark park of Idaho for that trip. I am trying to see if I can go see him later this summer. We shall see.
Thanks mate, have you seen anyfeedback on gen2/gen3? Cheers
I didn't upgrade my dishy to the 2 or 3. My Gen 1 works fine. I got the mini because of the travel and emergency preparedness capabilities.
The excess water could be draining into the groundwater and flow to the ocean. But hey just an observation from all the rivers around the world
My clay soil is constructed very well
So the clay soil I have actually drains very well and I can grow literally anything in it. Although digging holes can be interesting, some times I dig into rocks.
Thanks Paul the Prophet 🪶
Thanks Paul the Prophet. Much appreciated 🪶

I'm up to around 50hours worth of Paul the Prophet.
Does Paul still make this corn seed available for shipping and if so, do you know the amount that should be enclosed to cover the shipping?

Ten years later and he still looks the same. I love this brother Paul. He is like a prophet to me. I hear the Creatorz words speaking through Paul the Prophet. Thanks for sharing this bro.
How does this scale up to feed the planet without everyone having their own personal farm? Which creator are you talking about, the good one or your own personal creator? Which one would win if we started a war ? Why is the creator so bad at designing human spines?
Does your USB-C to barrel cable use power when dish is not plugged in? Mine uses .7watts, didn’t know if that was normal or if I should try another cable that doesn’t have a phantom drain
great video and test 10PCS Black Rubber Grommet Wiring Gasket Hole Rubber Grommet Rubber Ring Sealing Grommet Oil Resistant Rubber Grommet Ring Drilled for Wiring Cable do you think or better yet could you try and see if these would fit to seal the 5521??? keep dust/weather out
That is an interesting idea.
Hey, thanks, nice video. What is the battery you used? Do you have a link? Ok, sorry, goofy me, I found your video on it. Thanks. I like these short to the point options etc. Good job.
Glad you found the video. For those who have not, here is the link. ruclips.net/video/U8a3eVPnSjo/видео.html
I'd like to get one of these to try it out. BTW great video review and straight to the point.
Glad you liked it.
Can it power by the solar panel i have 60 watt pannel ps what the minimum power it needs to work with usb c
I doubt that connecting it directly to a 60w solar panel would work. I do not know of any panel that will give you the rated output. Even if it did, you would need a way to regulate that power. I would suggest connecting your solar panel to some kind of battery bank then connect the dishy to that. The minimum PD output that I have seen work is 60w.
Paul the Prophet I love this man. I pray I have the opportunity to meet him and help him around his yard. I will work for free for this prophet. HALALUYAHU'AH 🪶
I praise YAH for this mighty man.I pray I could have an opportunity to help him for free.
Does the Ethernet connection use the built in router?. I assume it’s got a built in router. Or is the Ethernet connection strictly if you wanted to use your own router?
I have seen others plug their laptops directly into it. I have not tried that yet.
This is my current thrower edc, so far so good
Same here. Ditched Streamlight after 3 different lights from them had critical issues within 2-5 months each and tried NiteCore instead. Started with the MH10 because it had similar output to other EDC lights I own and was only slightly longer in size, but after getting burned because of its terrible side button design, I was done. Bought the MT2C Pro a little over a week ago now and have been loving it.
What do you think, edc 35 or mt2c pro?
You've created a $100 fix to a $5 problem. The Starlink Mini runs off 12v DC. All you need is a $5 cigarette lighter adapter with a 6in female barrel end pigtail off Amazon for a under $10. Plug the factory cable right into any car, solar battery, etc.
If the starlink requires regulated 12V that could potentially not work as intended or damage it as a car will vary between 11 and 15 volts.
@@Maaniic Starling Mini can receive anywhere from 12-36 volts.
Not all battery banks have a barrel socket. A lot of the solar generators (ecoflow and the like) do but, they are too big to carry up a mountain. For that matter, so is my car. I already had this solar charging setup that I take on long days of shooting video. So, my $100 fix really only cost me less than $10.
@@L2Survive show me one that doesn’t.
I would prefer to have a battery between the power source and the Starlink mini just to regulate the power. I currently have a small solar setup creating 2.41kW, 220.6V @ 10.9A but, I can plug my Starlink mini into the USB port on my invertor and only get the power I need or can use.
Thank you, there is little info online like this comparing side-by-side. I'd love to find real life application testing; speed and latency are crude measures, esp for video calls where jitter matters. Thx again!
From a van you'd need a much longer cable and loss is inevitable. Please let us know if you've found something longer and reliable -- and ideally waterproof. Slink corp has hinted they will offer such at some point, likely @ 10x the price. Thx, great info!
How much are they (equipments)$
You suck at these
What powerbank are you using?
It is the Lion Energy Trek that I bought at Costco last winter. Here is my video of it ruclips.net/video/U8a3eVPnSjo/видео.html One subscriber mentioned that he used the Renogy 72000. It looks like it holds more power, but does not have an A/C outlet. He says it works well though. www.renogy.com/renogy-72000mah-266wh-power-bank-back-order-6-12/
Goal zero ac 100 is what I'm using
USB C #1 cable solution is out of stock. Bought #2 cable solution. Starlink isn’t powering up on it. I have it plugged into a 100w rated anker wall charger. Also tried an anker portable charger. Cable works on other devices.
same, not working for me
I don't know what to say. I bought a few things and tried them out. You saw my experience with these cables. If they don't work, send them back and try something else. This video was more of a proof of concept. Could you use a PD USB-C cable to power the Starlink mini off a battery. Before you send it back, try to power the min using the cable but, plugged into a wall adapter. Maybe it is somehow the battery.

Starlink mini no sirve
It has worked every time I have used it.
@@L2Survive Yes it works but not what the device promises, the speed drops a lot
A 5 minute open box and setup took a 28 minute video, 1 out of 10 rating.
I doubt mine was the first Starlink mini video you saw. I was trying it out the way I would use it. I'm sorry you did not get any useful information from this video.
@@L2Survive That's ok. Not a complete useless video. The recommended videos from this one are helpful, so your video led to useful ones.
Loved this episode. Your truth is beautiful. Glory to GOD. Thank YOU DUDE. I am curious where you are located. I guessed somewhere in Oregon?
Where do you get wood chips? How do you graft a pear tree?
I Thank OUR Lord that I have found your channel where have you been? What a blessing!!
Glory be to God, the beauty of his creation exudes Perfection! Everything done with a purpose to fulfill it All.
Love listening to you especially noticing God’s wisdom, genius and character in nature. I come from generations of farmershelped plant rice when I was young when the mud reached to my waist. Rode and bathed carabaos in the river. I live in Denmark now in a city apartment and filled my home with indoor plants. Sadly 3 years ago I had a massive debilitating stroke. My wondèful committed hisband who does kost hpuse chores and church work is too swampedto bring me out to, so on days when Im not doing personal training, I live vicariously through your videos. Wish you could also make videos on starting and setting up simple indoor gardens. Thank you for these lovely videos. I think nature is just awesome too. My mom's side are farmers, my dad's are fishermen. I had a very coloful childhood experiencing both fishing and farming :) God graciously bless you
most people will be walking with batteries in their back like a cameraman .
Once you get the USB-C cable, the power needs drop a lot.
Change to 2.4ghz and you'll get better range
2.4g? How pedestrian. I need FULL POWER!!!!! LOL. I actually did have my phone connected to the 2.4g signal when I was testing the Gen1 to the mini. I was so confused why I was only getting 20Mbps. It took me about an hour to realize that both phones were connecting to the 2.4g. It is a helpful tip though. I like knowing that I can extend the range if needed. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Just wish some of these larger battery banks (some sold as CPAP batteries) would get with the 2024 times. Get rid of or just provide one USB-A (QC 4.0) & USB-C PD140-240 (PD3.1). Not sure we need an 120 AC Inverter anymore...especially with the PD60-140 USB-C to 5521 Barrel cables. Would cut weight, possible cost and make it MORE appealing to end-users.
I am one of those prepper/survivalist types so, I can make the case for having 120 AC still, I get your point. Most of the stuff I own could be powered by some type of USB cable.
Those usb-c to 20v cables work well with TS100 type soldering irons, so you can power the iron from any power bank or wall-wart that can output usb-c 20v.
Huh, interesting.
Thank you!
Thanks for watching. I hope the video gave you the information you were looking for.
Thanks for covering the pole mount
You are welcome. I'm glad that I was able to answer whatever questions you had.
@@L2Survive Do you know if it will work from within a vehicle's windshield?
It depends. I have seen a few videos of people using it on the dash of their vehicle. The dish has, I believe, a 110° field of view. This allows satellites to connect to the dish before the current satellite is out of view. If you place the dish on your dash, you limit the view of the dish by the roof of your vehicle or the A-pillar (door jam), mirror, radar detector, ect. You also might not get the exact perfect position or even elevation. It will still get signal but, there might be a break in that signal. If you are streaming a video, the buffer might be enough for you not to notice. If you are on an important video call, put the dish on the roof.
